The documentary “Bill Cunningham New York” is a pure and honest look at style and fashion through the lens of none other than Bill Cunningham himself. Always remaining positive about images he captures for his, "On the street” fashion and "Evening Hours" society columns, has given his career the longevity and integrity to withstand any trend or look in the fashion world."I am looking for something that has beauty", expresses Bill. Bill captures people's fashion with his heart, not for any political or self-serving agenda. As a stylist and image consultant, I strive to have a nonjudgmental sense of what fashion and style is. They can be found everywhere and in many forms, just like how Bill is great at spotting the good look no matter how conservative or taboo it is. A good look is a look. And a bad look is still a look.Saturday, July 16, 2011

Can I get a what, what!!

HARPUTS OWN . COMME DES GARCONS . Y-3 . MARTHA DAVIS . JAN WARNOCK . & MORE
124 GEARY ST / SAN FRANCISCO / 415.392.2222 / INSTRUCTION@HARPUTSMARKET.COMIf you know anything about the Harputs family then you may have been familiar with their sneaker store on Filmore Street back in the day. These guys carried classic and vintage, hip-hop sneaker styles for the miles. I believe they had a warehouse full of stuff and would have these crazy hectic sales that were so fun. I would always get my B-girl gear from this family owned and operated store. Now they have moved into the grown and sexy stage of the Harputs and are carrying more high end lines including their own line Harputs Own. Yesterday I went into the Geary street store and although it was a undoubtedly more posh that the last store, the owner and one of 3 designers, Gus, greeted me with the same warmth and fun as the old store on Filmore. He said "Try everything on and buy nothing ". I don't know if he was trying to use some reverse psychology on me but I did try on several looks of the Harputs Own and they were HOT. I would have bought them all! The draping was elegant ,the fabrics were quality and the styles unique but in vogue.

Material World
My bow tie.
I found this little bow tie necklace at Sui Generis www.suigenerisconsignment.com/, which is great consignment store for men in the Castro. I like to rock it with my favorite pair of earrings as you can see. The necklace was made by a local designer Diego Gomez designnurd.blogspot.com ,and was available in a variety of fabrics. So cute and so fun! I want another!

Woolrich, chic done with a north east sensibility ...

So I've been gone for a minute but I'm back! Where you may ask? I've been waaaay up in the north east, near the Canadian boarder, for my Uncle's wedding. He fancies himself an outdoors man, hunter, fisher you may know the type. Very New England macho. So in June when I was in Milan, and my flight was cancelled and re-routed, I met a Japanese fellow who worked for Woolrich . He gave me a look book and immediately I felt nostalgic for my north east roots remembering all my Woolrich gear growing up freezing my ass off in the snow . The line, Woolrich John Rich & Bros. http://www.woolrich.it/ , is so fabulous and PRACTICAL for those who want to look good and stay warm. I've also been thrift store shopping for this line out here since it is an iconic and loved brand for those who must shovel in the winter.

Thom Browne Spring 2011

Thom Browne's fashion show always theatrical and eccentric . This collection however, appears to be more commercial than any other yet. But have no doubt you can still see an artist hands at work. Beam me up Thom.www.thombrowne.com/
